IKO
SUSPENSION

Design by Ludovic Roth

IKO is a pendant light developed in collaboration with Procédés Chenel International, based on my experiments with Honeycomb material. Rather than emphasizing only its honeycomb structure, the project highlights the layered sheet structure: its layering, its thickness, and its ability to vibrate under stress. A strip cut from the material along a precise pattern is pinched and then stretched taut. This central pressure causes the material to expand laterally, creating a voluminous, almost textile-like form.
The matte black metal structure, deliberately minimalist, integrates the light sources and maintains the balance of forces without overpowering the material. Visible on the sides, the honeycomb grid reveals the material’s internal logic.
IKO thus offers a constructive and sensitive interpretation of the Honey Comb, where form arises directly from tension.

Materials: Honeycomb paper, epoxy-coated steel, G9 light bulb, and glass globes.
