SLICE
LIGHT FIXTURE

Sénéquier Design

Conceived for the “Collectible Paper” exhibition at the invitation of Procédés Chenel, SLICE explores the structural and luminous potential of honeycomb paper.
The lamp is composed of honeycomb paper that unfolds into a three-dimensional form around a folded aluminum core running through the object like a cross-section. This structural cross-section reveals the light source at the heart of the volume, evoking both the cross-section of a fruit and a geological cross-section. The light thus appears as the visible cross-section of an invisible volume and diffuses through the honeycomb geometry of the paper. Whether placed on a surface or suspended, the lamp naturally finds its balance thanks to the distribution of weight between the paper and the aluminum. Designed according to a flat-pack principle, the lamp is transported flat before unfolding into its three-dimensional form by opening the paper and tensioning the metal structure. This design logic reduces transport and storage volume and reflects an approach that is attentive to the real-world conditions under which objects are moved, where form, structure, and economy of means are all part of the same design philosophy.

Materials: Honecomb honeycomb paper, folded aluminum foil.
